Château Retreat for Artists
June 19 - 28, 2016 ~ Lavender Season.
Sep 11 - 20 ~ Glorious Provence.

These two workshops are a wonderful opportunity to paint with other artists and spend 10 days in the idyllic South of France; all while enjoying the natural beauty and bounty of Provence. We have carefully selected a beautiful château above the hillside village of Châteauneuf de Gadagne for this stay. Dinners, transportation and accommodations are included. This year we will take a day to paint and explore St. Remy and Les Baux, following the footsteps of Van Gogh. Why not stand where he stood and paint exactly where he painted? There are other venues to explore at Les Baux with a special light-display of Klimt's paintings in a tribute to Vienna.

Every day has its selected destination, to sketch and paint - but also to take time to discover the area and the people. Markets, vineyards, hilltop villages that will take your breath away are all on the itinerary. And, we choose locations where we have access to our vehicles, materials and cafes. Who doesn't love to sit in outdoor cafes watching the passers-by and enjoy the charm of the area? Bring your camera, because you will be truly inspired by your surroundings and will want to snap many references.

After dining at the château we take up various painting related topics for discussion and demos. Although the workshop is not instructed - painting side by side with other artists - the take-away is growth, new skills and new connections; many new friendships lasting for years. To see if this is the right workshop for you, check the F.A.Q. page. We have shared the workshop experience with many wonderful guests; painters, photographers, a writer, a sculptor and artists from three continents. It is designed for artists, by artists.

The castle's history is ancient, and the castle too, with its start in the 600s. But as time marched on, it has been successively owned, re-owned and brought up to modern standards. Now it boasts full amenities, 2 swimming pools and wi-fi. The views are unbelievable from the château's vantage point. It sits on the edge of a plateau atop the village that cascades down the hills to the valley below that stretches for miles to the Ventoux mountains in the distance.
